As reported by Taipei Times, Asus the major matherboard manufacturer, is expanding the product lines into low priced laptop this year. The move as a result of their partnership whith Intel, the largest chip maker. “Tech giants such as Intel Corp don’t want to miss out on the potential of the budget PC segment, and we are working with [Intel] to tap into the market,” confirmed an Asustek official as interviewed by Taipei Times reporter.
The laptop will be produced in five models which the retail price will set between US$199 and US$549. It won’t utilizes standard hard drive but flash memory (40GB max) instead. The laptop will have 7-inch panel but still there are no more details yet about the technical specifications. This move was reported as Asus answer to Quanta who mentioned as the biggest laptop supplier in the low priced laptop market.
