This is the first laptop with integrated Hybrid Hard Disk Drive (HDD) released by Samsung, new Samsung R55. Hybrid HDD is new innovative technology which add a flash RAM chip to the standard HDD for storing frequently used data. Implementing this Hybrid technology, make the HDD spin lesser because the frequently used data, accessible from the flash RAM not the HDD itself. From the benchmark test by Samsung, Hybrid HD’s reading speed got 26% higher and up to 71% for the writing speed, but on the other side the power consumption is 36% lower.

The new Samsung R55 powered by Intel Core2Duo T5600 (1.83Ghz) processor, nVidia GeForce 7400 GPU, and 5400rpm of 80GB Hybrid HDD (256Mb flash). Featuring Windows Vista Premium as the operating system, this laptop utilizes 15.4-inch WXGA LCD, 6in1 media reader, and Super Multi DL Optical Drive.
