I know everybody is waiting for a low cost UMPC, now the waiting is over as DEC, Data Evolution Corp, released its first AMD based UMPC namely Cathena CX. The new UMPC powered by AMD Geode LX800 processor (500MHz clock speed), 1GB of SDRAM (max), and 100GB of HDD (max). Featuring 7-inch WVGA LCD screen which support up to 800×480 of resolution, this ulta mobile PC also equipped with QWERTY keyboard, Built-in touch pad, and 5-way directional joystick.

Other technical specification include: Integrated 802.11b/g WiFi to keep the user start connected everywhere and Blutooth 2.0+ with EDR for file transfer simplicity from and to mobile device. It also comes with various i/o port such as Ethernet, USB 2.0, and VGA port. Memory card reader, built-in stereo speakers, audio in/out jacks are another key features that offered by this new Cathena CX. The company set the Cathena’s pricing at $799, it is not the cheapest one but it is considered a low cost UMPC available today.
