MacBook/MacBook Pro’s batteries issues that affecting performance has been discovered recently by Apple. Now the problem has been identified and they offering free software update that is made to enhance the performance. Apple explain that not all the batteries need a replacement, the affected batteris should have one or more the following symtoms:

  • Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
  • Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
  • Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
  • Battery pack is visibly deformed.

According to timesonline.co.uk, despite the problems, Macbook remains a successful for the company. Apple’s sales of its portable computers rose 178.9% over the 12 months to March 31 2007, helping boost quarterly profits to $770 million.
