Acer America encourage its consumers to check to see if their Acer laptop may have affected battery packs and, Acer will replace their battery pack for free. The affected Acer laptop models include: TravelMateTM series beginning with:242x, 320x, 321x, 330x, 422x, 467x, 561x, C20x, and AspireTM Series Beginning with:556x, 560x, 567x, 930x, 941x, 980x.

According to Acer, the battery packs included in the program were sold in USA and Canada between May 2004 and November 2006. And the total of involved battery 27.000 packs approximately. It is considered a small part of 10 millions batteries recalled by Sony Corp. worldwide.

Consumers other than Acer’s also had the same issued since last year, they include Lenovo’s, Dell’s, and Apple’s consumers. The problem has been known as battery overheating, so consumers should join this free program seriously to avoid serious accident. The overheating problem could cause a fire.

With the program, Acer becoming the latest company to warn of faulty Sony-made lithium-ion batteries, who is next?
