Acer can not stand with the huge response of cheap laptop. And now they plan to launch its own version of Eee PC during Computex Trade in Taipei next June. Based on Atom processor, Acer said that its laptop weighs under 1 Kg.
But, unlike other companies who wax a load of lyrical rubbish about their low cost lappies being created for the sole purpose of helping the third world, Acer is refreshingly honest and admits that it’s in no way interested in marketing its new baby to the developing world. Acer wants rich people to buy its laptops. Lots of them.

CNET Asutralia has reviewed the Acer Aspire 8920G laptop. The laptop is said has good quality screen at 16:9 ratio. Its “Cinetouch” media navigation is also get positive score. Other goodies include its new design and Acer Empowerment software. Products highlights: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB of ram, 320GB of HDD, and Blu-ray drive. Designed as deskptop replcement, the Aspire 8920G boasts 18.4 inch screen at 1920 x 1080 resolution.
The bottomline: Acer’s interesting take on the entertainment desktop replacement makes a few good steps, a few bad, but ultimately is a viable option.

According to Acer chairman JT Wang, as reported by digitimes.com, Acer is readying the mass adoption of WiMax-enabled laptop. The laptop which based on Montevina, currently in testing stage and expected to launch in mid year.
Wang revealed Acer’s WiMAX notebook plans on the sidelines of a ceremony to mark the signing of a MOU between Intel and Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) for investment in Taiwan’s WiMAX industry as well as the purchase of WiMAX equipment from Taiwan vendors.

Announced in New York, the new Acer Gemstone Blue aimed to be multimedia laptop that support full 1080p HD movies through its 900×1200 screen with 16:9 aspect ratio. Available in two models, the 6920G (16″) and the 8920G (18.4″), the Gemstone Blue’s standard configuration include 1.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 320GB HDD, 4GB of memory, an HDMI port with HDCP support, a multi-card memory card reader, and an Express Card Slot.
The most exciting aspect was the estimated retail pricing of $900 to $1700 which is very affordable for these kind of specs.

You don’t need to wait until next year to enjoy HD content on the go, thank to Acer which planed to release Blu-ray capable laptops this Spring. The laptops will be available in two screen size, 16.4 and 18-inch that boasts 1920×1080 aspect ratio.
The expected price will be around $2000 depending on the configuration including the screen size. Did i mentioned HD-DVD laptop? oh forget it, let it die smoothly.

Coming with curved angles design, the Acer Aspire 5520 laptop configured with 1.9GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 processor, 256MB Integrated NVIDIA GeForce 7000M graphic card, 120GB of hard disk drive, 1GB of random access memory (ram), and Windows Vista operating system.
In addition to the above configuration, the new Aspire 5520 measure 42.6 x 36.6 x 27.4 cm, and weigh 2.75kg including its 15.4-inch screen. The estimated price is about $1,002 in Japan.

Bundling under 30.6 x 22.7 x 2.8-3.5cm box dimension, the new Acer TravelMate 6292 comes with Intel Core 2 Duo processor (Santa Rosa), Intel’s 65GM chipset, and next-gen Wi-Fi (802.11n) for faster internet speed. Other supported connectivities include Bluetooth 2.0, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, and standard modem 56Kbps.
Other technical specifications: 160GB (max) HDD, up to 4GB ram, 5-in-1 digital meadia reader, and DVD writer. S-Video output, VGA output, and Firewire also included in the 2Kg laptop.
