
Since the rumor spreading back in July, Sony still unclear about its exact plan to joining the netbook market. After OLPC, Asus, Intel, MSI, Acer, HP, Dell, Toshiba, and Sumsung enter the market, it seems Sony doesn’t want be left behind too far away.
At a recent press event, Mike Abary, Sony’s Senior VP of Information Technology Products, was asked about netbooks and said: “Sony has to participate because consumers are our core competency. We have to participate.”

I’m bit too late writing this news as the reports said last month that the Atom-based MID ‘Aspire One’ would be available in August in Japan, so it means the laptop is already available there. Equipped with WiMAX technology the Aspire One adopts 8.9-inch display with LED backlight that supports 1,024 x 600 resolution. It’s configured with 20GB HDD, 1GB of RAM, and runs Windows XP OS. The cheaper version of 2133 Mini-Note is under development, the reports said last month. But HP also stated that the next device won’t be as durable as the current one even though from a retail perspective it’s considered as a similar device but cheaper.
HP unveiled the 2133 Mini-Note back in April. The machine has an 8.9in display and is powered by VIA’s C7-M processor, clocked at up to 1.6GHz. There’s up to 2GB of 667MHz DDR 2 memory on board. Storage options include 120GB or 160GB, 5400rpm or 7200rpm hard drives, or 5GB of solid-state storage

As mentioned by some reports, the Atom based ECS G10IL Mini-Notebook will hit the U.S. stores starting next month. the 10-inch laptop will be available in two models including 8 GB SSD that runs Linux and 80 GB hdd running Windows XP. Designed and made to enter the cheap laptop market, the ECS G10IL is configured with Intel 945 GSE chipset, and up to 2GB of ram.
