MacBook/MacBook Pro’s batteries issues that affecting performance has been discovered recently by Apple. Now the problem has been identified and they offering free software update that is made to enhance the performance. Apple explain that not all the batteries need a replacement, the affected batteris should have one or more the following symtoms:
- Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
- Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
- Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
- Battery pack is visibly deformed.

Acer America encourage its consumers to check to see if their Acer laptop may have affected battery packs and, Acer will replace their battery pack for free. The affected Acer laptop models include: TravelMateTM series beginning with:242x, 320x, 321x, 330x, 422x, 467x, 561x, C20x, and AspireTM Series Beginning with:556x, 560x, 567x, 930x, 941x, 980x.
